History
Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, located in southwestern Wake County, has a rich history that dates back to the 19th century. The town was originally two separate communities: Fuquay Springs, named after a French veteran of the Revolutionary War, and Varina, named after Varina Howell Davis, the wife of Confederate President Jefferson Davis. The discovery of the mineral spring in Fuquay Springs brought many visitors seeking its healing properties. Fuquay Springs was incorporated in 1909, and Varina was incorporated in 1913. The two towns merged in 1963 to become Fuquay-Varina.
Over the years, Fuquay-Varina has evolved from a small agricultural community to a thriving suburb of the Raleigh-Durham metropolitan area. Its proximity to Raleigh has attracted new residents and businesses, leading to significant growth and development
